Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul is a temple in Bali famous for its holy spring, meaning “holy spring that emerges from the ground.” The temple complex is known for its sacred pools filled with fresh spring water that continuously flows from natural underground sources. The peaceful atmosphere, traditional Balinese architecture, and spiritual significance make Tirta Empul one of the island’s most important cultural landmarks.
This place is used by Hindus to perform a self-purification ritual called melukat. During the ritual, worshippers cleanse themselves by standing under a series of stone spouts, each believed to wash away negative energy and restore spiritual balance. Visitors are allowed to observe or even participate in the ceremony, making Tirta Empul not just a historical site, but also a meaningful spiritual experience for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Balinese Hinduism.
